Welcome to the Natick Catholic Community Website

June 16, 2020

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Prayers that this note finds you healthy and well!  I know these are challenging times for all of us but please know you are in my prayers and the prayers of Fr. Alfano, Fr. Chip and Fr. Leroy every day!

I want to take the opportunity today to update you on some happenings in our parishes over the last few months.  A belated but sincere congratulations to this year’s Cheverus Award winners from our parishes: Chuck & Maria Young from St. Patrick and Molly Duffy from St. Linus.  The Cheverus Award is presented each year to individuals throughout the Archdiocese for their service to the Church and to God’s people.  What a wonderful example our parishioners have been in leading the way for all of us in our Natick Catholic Community – thank you!

I know everyone is anxious to get back to Mass, we the priests are also anxious to get back. So in that spirit here is what will happen. Beginning this coming weekend (6/20-21) we will be open for the following Masses (click the links to sign up for Mass):

4pm Saturday at Saint Patrick
9am Sunday at Saint Linus
12:30pm Sunday at Saint Patrick

How will you be allowed to come to Mass? There will be a sign up on the Facebook page for the Natick Catholic Community as well as a link to the same signups above. For those without internet access or the ability to navigate the web they may call the parish and the staff will write their name and other information down on a separate list. Once these lists fill up that Mass will be full and you will have to choose another Mass or wait till the following week. We are currently limited to 115 total people allowed and that includes the priest and other mass helpers like the lector and Eucharistic Ministers.

When one comes to Mass they will have to check in. At Saint Patrick that means inside the center front door or inside at the handicap lift. Those entrances only. Once checked in an usher will bring you to a seat. There will be no choice in the seat you receive it is first come first serve. At Communion time an usher will go row by row to allow people to go to communion and upon receiving you MUST go back to you seat. After Communion and the final blessing you MUST wait for the usher to allow your row to exit the Church. If you feel like you cannot abide by these rules you may want to consider waiting before you return to Mass when the restrictions by the Government lesson.

As for Saint Linus, the only doors to enter will be the parking lot side door and the lift door for handicapped or people with severe mobility issues only and their helpers. The other above rules will be in place at Saint Linus as well. It is imperative that folks only move from their pews when advised to do so by an usher.

For Communion you will only be allowed by diocesan rule to receive in the hand. Your hand when receiving MUST be flat with no curving fingers and no grabbing. Just a flat hand. If this rule is onerous we apologize but the diocesan rules are clear on this and if one cannot abide by this rule please consider staying at home until the rules lesson.

People who show up for Mass but have not reserved a spot will only be allowed into Mass if we are not at full capacity when Mass begins. Mass will have no singing and very little music. Homilies will be short and the sign of peace will be eliminated, at least for now.

Bathrooms will be for severe emergencies only. Please go to the bathroom before Mass at home, this goes for children as well. If you have to go in an emergency please flag an usher to help.

The first few weekends we will be working out the kinks so please be patient with us.

Fr. Chip

God rescues us from dangers beyond all human expectation…so that we might not trust in ourselves but in God…from so great a danger did He deliver us, and does deliver us; we hope in Him, for He will deliver us again.”
- St. Basil the Great

Dear St. Linus & St. Patrick Parishioners & Friends:

During these most unsettling times please remember that our parishes are dependent completely on your weekly financial support. Without our weekend collections we will not be able to pay our bills, our staff or our clergy. We already have been through the first weekend without a collection and, of course, it is uncertain how much longer we will be without weekend Masses. Without these funds, I honestly am not sure how we will survive. Please remember to give weekly through our online giving options:

or in whatever manner is easiest for you. We trust in God & know He will provide for us but we all need to continue to do our part. Thank you & know you are in the prayers of all of our parish clergy & staff.

God Bless, Fr. Mike

Welcome to the Community of St. Linus and St. Patrick. Natick Catholic Community was established on June 3, 2014. We welcomed our shared clerical team with open arms. This includes our Pastor Fr. Michael MacEwen; Parochial Vicar Fr. Michael Alfano; and Priest-in Residence Fr. Leroy Owens. Fr. MacEwen and Fr. Alfano live at the St. Patrick rectory and Fr. Owens lives in the St. Linus rectory.

Whether you're a current parishioner, a Catholic from another parish thinking about joining us, curious about becoming Catholic, or just interested in learning more about the Catholic faith, we welcome you! Please look around our website - we have lots of great information, as well as pictures, a calendar, descriptions of the various ministries we participate in, and more.  We invite you to get closer to Jesus Christ, no matter what your reasons are!
