Our NCC Healing Prayer Team will assist at two celebrations of the Anointing of the Sick. This will take place at Masses on Saturday 10 June at 4:00 pm at Saint Patrick and Sunday 11 June at 9:00 am at Saint Linus.
During each liturgy our priests will offer the Sacramental Anointing. Also, Prayer Teammembers will join in their intercession for health and healing. We will ask each congregation as well to pray as we entrust each person anointed to the care and blessing of the Risen Lord Jesus.
Who should come forward seeking the Sacramental Anointing of the Sick * ? Anyone who is suffering from grave illness, chronic pain, debilitating injury, disability, or who may be weakened by advanced age. Also, this Sacrament asks the Holy Spirit to assist if you are struggling with addiction or troubled by any kind of impairment due to serious physical, psychological, emotional, or spiritual causes. And should you be facing some surgery ( or already be in recovery from it ) you are welcome to seek the Anointing as well. In summary, anyone who is burdened with or afflicted by failing health is cordially invited to participate.
[ * Note that SACRAMENTAL ANOINTING is NOT INTENDED ONLY for those who may be nearing the end of life. Although sometimes indeed requested by or for the dying, the priest's prayers themselves ask the Lord for His healing graces. ]
What if you have already been anointed previously? Our Church welcomes you to seek the strengthening of this healing Sacrament if your health condition(s) has / have since worsened or if you are experiencing additional complications from other treatments you may have received. Prayers will be offered on your behalf for an increase in your faith in God's compassionate desire to grace you with courage, confidence, hope, and peace.
